Zentangle
Artist Statement
My artwork is a wolf howling over the moon. The subject matter of the artwork is a zentangle. The principles in my work that stand out are the patterns that color the wolf's outline. The patterns stick out for the fact that not all of them are the same.I created my work with the idea of presenting and animal that I am a fan of.I wanted to represent the wolf in a different way. I also didn’t want to stick to the same pattern going along the drawing. I wanted to mix things up throughout the drawing. The big idea behind my artwork is to show an animal that I’m a big fan of, in a different style. When I decided on the wolf, the first thing that came to mind was a moon as a background. This is because I had the idea of drawing my wolf howling and they are usually believed to howl over a full moon. My goals for this artwork was to make it look creative and not boring. I also wanted to make the patterns creative and try and fill in my sketch with as many different patterns possible, to try and avoid a lot of white spots from showing. Also, to try and avoid the drawing from looking boring. My overall thought of my artwork is that I wish I could’ve added a bit more to the background. I like how it turned out in terms of the way the wolf, and the patterns inside it looked. I’m also happy with the patterns I chose. My only problem as I said before, is the big white spots left as the background. Although I did do the moon there were still a lot of empty spots left.
